FRONT PANEL: LUMINO Diatomaceous Earth ...pure fresh water... DE Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is not earth or dirt. It is the fossilized remains Melosira Preicelanica, microscopic one-celled aquatic plants. They absorbed minerals from the water and created protective shells. Originally Melosira Preicelanica diatoms were cylinders with numerous holes. Over the eons as these diatoms fossilized they retained their tubular shape. Its their shape and hardness that produce extremely pure and consistent DE with greater surface area for increased absorptive capacity compared to other diatoms. See Label on back for important information: Why there are different grades of DE What makes fresh water DE superior to salt water DE Why amorphous DE is safer than crystalline silica DE Net wt. 1.5 lbs

SUPPLEMENT FACTS: The Diatomaceous Earth people are talking, writing and blogging about. Pure, fresh water, mined, naturaly milled and bagged in the United States. It is unheated, amorphous (non-crystalling) silico dioxide. Why there are different grades of DE Of the 600 DE deposits in the US only four are considered Codex Food-Grade by FDA standards. Lumimo DE is almost pure white and consists of 89-94% silicon dioxide plus 28 trace minerals. Darker colored DE often contains an excess amount of iron or a high percentage of clay. These sediments or clay can clog the DE pores making it less effective. What makes fresh wter DE superior to salt water DE Our fresh water deposit originated eons ago in the Western United Sates as pure snow. The snows run off provided the water source the diatoms lived in. Diatoms in fresh water form a harder shell than those in salt water. As the seas dried up these diatom deposits were exposed. Salt water deposits contain a mix of diatoms of different shapes. Coming from a variety of water sources these shells are fragile and have broken a part rendering them ineffective. Why amorphous DE is safer than crystalline silica DE Lumino DE is amorphous silica. This is silica in its naturally occurring state. It is a trace mineral every mammal on the planet needs to survive. The silica in DE becomes crystalline when it is exposed to extreme heat through volcanic activity or commercial maufacturing. This type of DE is used in swimming pools and other filtration systems. Crystalline silica is extremely dangerous when inhaled or ingested. Lumino DE contains less then one-half of one percent crystalline silica.
